Small leaks add up
A running toilet can waste hundreds of gallons a day without making much noise. If you hear your toilet refill when no one has used it, or a drop of food coloring in the tank shows up in the bowl without flushing, the flapper or fill valve needs attention.
Hard water and fixtures
Mineral build-up clogs aerators and showerheads and wears out the moving parts inside faucets and toilet valves. Sometimes cleaning is enough; when a fixture is worn out, replacing it is usually the better value.
